How to Book an African Hunting Safari With Berg to Bush Safaris

Everything You Need to Know for the Ultimate Adventure in Limpopo, South Africa

Booking an African hunting safari is an exciting journey on its own—filled with choices, planning, and the anticipation of stepping into Africa’s wild hunting grounds. At Berg to Bush Safaris, we make the entire process simple, transparent, and professional from start to finish. Whether it's your first safari or your tenth, this guide walks you through exactly what you need, what to expect, and how to book the hunt of a lifetime.

1. Decide What You Want to Hunt

Africa offers a massive variety of game species, from plains game to dangerous game. At Berg to Bush Safaris, we specialize in:

  • Cape Buffalo (Black Death)

  • Plains game such as kudu, impala, wildebeest, zebra, warthog, blesbok, sable, and more

  • Night critters including bushpig, civet, genet, caracal, honey badger

  • Family-friendly non-hunting activities like Kruger National Park day trips

Choosing your preferred species helps determine the length of your safari, the area you’ll hunt, and the final price of your package.

2. Choose a Hunting Package or Build Your Own

You can select from our all-inclusive package deals, or we can build a custom safari based on:

  • Your target species

  • Number of hunting days

  • Trophy expectations

  • Accommodation preferences

  • Additional sightseeing or travel needs

Every Berg to Bush Safaris package includes:

  • Accommodation

  • All meals & drinks

  • Licensed Professional Hunter (PH)

  • Trackers & skinners

  • All hunting vehicles

  • Field preparation of trophies

  • Transfers inside South Africa

  • 24/7 support from our team

3. Understand the Required Documents

Booking is simple, but having the right documents ensures smooth travel:

International Hunters Need:

  • A valid passport

  • Flight details (we assist with suggested routes)

  • If bringing a rifle:

    • SAPS 520 temporary firearm import form

    • Invitation letter (we supply this)

    • Proof of ownership of your firearm

    • U.S. hunters: CBP Form 4457

If you’re renting one of our rifles, you don’t need firearm paperwork.

Local Hunters Need:

  • ID book/card

  • Valid firearm licenses (if bringing personal rifles)

4. Pick Your Travel Dates

The best hunting months in Limpopo are:

  • April – October for general plains game

  • June – October for buffalo and big game

  • Year-round for certain species depending on weather and vegetation

We check availability and confirm your dates instantly.

5. Secure Your Booking

Once we finalize your package and dates, booking is easy:

  1. We send you an official booking confirmation and invoice.

  2. A deposit secures your safari (usually 30–50% depending on species).

  3. The balance is paid on arrival or at the end of the hunt.

We keep everything clear, simple, and transparent—no hidden costs and no grey areas.
